A Watercolor Adventure in the Algarve, Portugal

This 5 day workshop is for the watercolorist who enjoys travel and exploration. We will capture Portugal’s southern coast from Faro to Olhao, Tavira, Cacelha Velha, and Vila Real de Santo Antonio, where we will spend a day painting each place.

We will paint a wide variety of subjects, including towns, harbors, and characteristic street scenes along the way.

Portugal has some of the most beautiful Mediterranean light, perfect for painting vibrant watercolors and learning to paint a wide variety of scenes. Spring is the ideal time of year when there are very few tourists and cool, sunny weather.

Two Teachers

I will be teaching together with artist Grażyna Ostrowska, who will be our local guide and co-teacher, based in Faro, where she runs Lighthouse Art Courses.

The Details

We will travel to a new town each day capturing Portugal’s southern coast from Faro to Olhao, Tavira, Cacelha Velha, and Vila Real de Santo Antonio.

We will paint a wide variety of subjects, including towns, harbors, and characteristic street scenes along the way.

The morning session will include demonstrations and instruction. There will be a break for lunch. The afternoons will be more loosely structured where you can choose to paint with 1-on-1 feedback from us, or go out exploring on your own.

The cost for all 5 days is €980 which includes transportation between towns, daily instruction, and watercolor paper for the week.

The workshop is for all skill levels. You must be in good physical condition and able to carry your gear.
