In Person Workshop:
Painting and Drawing the Italian Landscape
October 5 - 11, 2026
Join me for a week long experience painting and drawing the wild landscape and small hilltop towns in the Sabina region of Italy. Located just one hour north of Rome, the area is famous for its olive oil and wild landscape.
This workshop is open to all media and experience levels, allowing you to explore new techniques or use what you are already comfortable with. After registration, I will send you a suggested materials list, and we will discuss which mediums are best for you to work in.
The group will be small and intimate, allowing us to work together 1-on-1, share a group experience, and get to know the locals and our host family. The workshop is not only an artistic experience but also a cultural and historic one for getting to know the region intimately.

The workshop will be held on a small family farm called Le Moe sul Farfa, located on the outskirts of Mompeo, Italy.
We will spend two days painting on the farm, one day in the neighboring town of Salisano, one day at the ancient Farfa Abbey, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and one day at my home and studio.
We will work 3 hours in the morning and again in the late afternoon, with a lunch break in between. Each person is free to take time off at any time if they want a break.
The cost of the workshop covers transport to and from the local train station (which runs twice an hour from Rome and the Fiumicino airport), and all meals except for 2 lunches out. The tuition does not include travel to the workshop, travel insurance, or materials.
You must be in good physical shape as we will be walking on uneven ground with slopes where you will need to be able to carry your materials.

More on Workshops
-
Having lived in Italy for 22 years, my workshops are designed for people who love getting to know Italy through its people, food, architecture, history, culture, and landscape.
I normally host one plein air workshop a year. We spend our time painting outdoors in order to fully enjoy and experience a place’s beauty through the study of nature.
Workshops are suited to all levels of experience, though previous experience working outdoors can be helpful.
You must be in good physical shape and able to carry your equipment out on location.
-
You will need a computer, tablet, or cell phone that you connect to Zoom.
You will get a materials list along with the link to join before the class.
You do not need experience to participate. The classes are inclusive and adapted to all levels.

I am available for private in person workshops. If you are coming to Italy and would like to work together in painting or drawing, either with a group or on your own, please contact me to create your own Italian art experience.
