January Online: Begin the Year's Sketchbook

For anyone who has always wanted to have a sustained sketching practice or even learn new ways of approaching drawing, this is a great place to start.

In January’s class we will focus on line. We will work with learning to use different kinds of lines such as fast and slow, curved and straight, and more. Each line and mark has its own quality that helps us express mood, emotion, light, movement or stillness, creating an effective world inside the drawing.

This month’s workshop will be the first in a monthly series of online workshops. You can attend any single workshop or sign up for the year long series.

This 2 hour workshop will focus on line work, first covering and practicing a series of various marks and translate that into a drawing of a still life of plants.

You will need pens and pencils along with 10 sheets of paper. Any pencils, pens, and paper you already have at your disposal are perfect for this class.

The class will be recorded, giving you lifetime access to go back and watch whenever you like.

You will need an internet connection with access to Zoom to attend the class.

We will have a Padlet board where each person can upload and share their work. This gives us the opportunity to see and learn from each other’s work and get individual feedback. I will also post images of example work from artists, along with resource links, documents, and each month’s recording.
